Thorpe is near to the Essex "Sunshine coast" and this ensures that the hours of daylight received during the summer months are amongst the highest attained in the country.
The Club is a mixed club and is affiliated to Bowls England (BE) and the Essex Bowling Association (EBA). The mens section is also affiliated to the Tendring Hundred & District Bowling Association. (TH&DBA).
The Ladies section to Tendring Hundred Ladies league (THL).
